DIP expects Thailand to remain in USA’s Priority Watch List for another year
The Department of Intellectual Property expects that the United States will announce Thailand to be in the Priority Watch List for another year due to the country’s intellectual property infringement problems.
Patchima Thanasanti, Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property expected that by this 30 April, the USA will announce that Thailand and many other countries will be in the Priority Watch List (PWL) for another year due to the country’s high intellectual property infringement problems. Although previously Thailand continuously tried show the US the campaign provision and the suppression procedure in many ways, the US still perceives that the problems have not been reduced during the past 5 years.
However, The Department of Intellectual Property and the government are working hard to enact the copyright and trademark laws. It is believed that the laws will be enforced in 2013, which may help remove Thailand from the Watch List. However, this ultimately depends on cooperation from all parties.
