Ministry of Commerce Celebrated the 94 Year Anniversary

Ministry of Commerce greatly held an event entitled “20 August Commerce Day” to celebrate 94 year anniversary of Ministry of Commerce. Dr.Supachai Panitchpakdi was invited to be a keynote speaker. Business guru including Nakaraj Nakhon,  TARADdotCom, and irealplus, also showed visions and awarded “Diamond Commercial Award” for people’s contribution to the country on trade and commerce. In addition, there were a lot of activities including cooperation with department stores providing discounts across the country, OTOP booths, and lower price sales at IMPACT, as well as E-commerce and franchise promotion.    
 
         Miss Chutima Bunyapraphasara, Permanent Secretary, said during the opening ceremony that “Ministry of Commerce has committed to drive and enhance economic trade of Thailand for sustainable growth, strengthen the commercial sector both on goods and services, develop markets both within and outside the country to generate income for the people, as well as take care of farmers, entrepreneurs, and consumers are at all levels thoroughly and equally. This is consistent to the objective and policy of the National Council for Peace and Order that gives priority on urgently addressing economic problems for people and restoring confidence to foreign investment and operation in Thailand under the policy of fair and free trade system promotion for people’s benefit and happiness’s restoration. 
 
Another important mission of the Ministry of Commerce requiring urgent implementation is export stimulation as the export sector is important to Thailand’s economy, accounting for 60 percent of the country’s economic growth. We will carry out activities intensely to maintain existing markets and expand to new potential markets, such as ASEAN market, especially, border trade market with neighboring countries. In addition, we have to promote the image of the goods and services of Thailand to increase international confidence.
 
          We also need to accelerate addressing corruption and creating cooperate transparency image as soon as possible. We are holding a project entitled "MOC Go Clean : Zero Corruption, We Dare!", which focuses on creating awareness about correct practices and transparency according to official regulations, to raise awareness and courage in the fight against corruption, including the development of values, honor, and dignity among the officials and personnel of Ministry of Commerce. We also create opportunities to monitor and report behaviors implied corruption for further appropriate action. This morning, I have led executives, government officials, government employees, and officials of the Ministry of Commerce pledge themselves to fight against corruption.
 
     In the event, there is a keynote address entitled "Breakthrough New Economic Wave to Sustainable Trade Growth" by Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, Former Director General of the World Trade Organization - WTO and  Secretary-General of  United Nations Conference on Trade and Development – UNCTAD. The content will explain the trend and direction of future world trade and how Thailand should be adapted to cope and gain advantages from the change of world trade. In addition, those who succeed in their businesses have been invited to share their knowledge and experience of doing business to participants in topic “Inspiration and Strategies to Top Business Leaders”. They include Dr. Haemchok Singsomboon, Vice President of AAC Group and Vice President of Nakaraj Nakhon Project, Mr. Pawoot Pongvitayapanu, President of Thai E-Commerce Association and Managing Director and founder of tarad.com, and Mr. Patcharapol Suttidharm, Managing Director of Ireal Plus (Thailand) Company Limited. 
 
     In addition, there will be a ceremony of “Diamond Commercial Award” for people who contribute to the country on trade and commerce as well as people who contribute to the Ministry of Commerce, totaling 15 awards. Contributing entrepreneurs in the field of agricultural products include Miss Kobsook Iamsuree, Honorary President of Thai Rice Exporters Association, Committee Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kamolkij Group and Kasisuri Group. Contributing entrepreneurs in the field of industrial products include Mrs. Achana Mrs. AchanaLimpaitoon, Managing Director of Srithai Auto Seats Industry Company Limited, President of Thai Autoparts Manufacturers Association. Contributing entrepreneurs in the field of service business include Mr. Naphinthorn Srisanphang, Managing Director of Agro Commerce Group Compnay Limited (Sri Muang Market) Ratchaburi province. Contributing entrepreneur who is an innovator for social benefit includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pitoon Triwijitkasaem, Committee Chairman of Thantawan Industry PLC. And, a new entrepreneur contributing to society includes Mr. Patcharapol Suttidharm, Managing Director of Ireal Plus (Thailand) Company Limited.
 
     In the field of expert includes Mr. Todsapol Tantiwong, Committee Chairman of Sanguan Wongse Industries Company Limited, Mr. Boonma Tejavanija, Honorary Director in Foreign Business Committee, and Mr. Niyom Vaiyaratpanich, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
 
     In the field of creative developer includes M.L. Kathathong Thongyai, Department of International Trade Promotion, Mr. Chatree Meknunthapaisit, Office of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Commerce, Miss Khankhanit Amphuprapa, Department of Foreign Trade, Mr. Chalermpol Phongchabapnapha, Commerce Office of Chiang Rai, Miss Phattaporn Chiyanupong, Internal Trade Office of Nakhonratchasima, Mr. Adul Chotinisakorn, Trade Promotion Office in Mumbai, India, and Miss Pimchanok Vonkhorporn, International Commercial Office in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium. 
 
     Activities at Ministry of Commerce during 20-22 August, 2014 include OTOP Recommended Food, such as Pad Thai 100 Years Baan Thang Kwien, Khao Sawy Lampang, Kai Yang Khao Suan Kwang, Fried Jampada, desserts from Muang Phet, Roti, The Tarik, Roti Saimai from Ayutthaya, Sweet Tamarind from Phetchabun, and One Tambon One Product such as woven fabrics from Baan Had Siew, silk, cotton products, antique silverware, Benjarong, leather products, and more.
